Conservation

In 2010 ORA worked with Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the United States Fish and Wildlife Service to house hundreds of cold stunned sea turtles during an extreme weather event.

In 2002 ORA worked with the Disney Wildlife Conservation Fund and the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary to re-seed a damaged reef in Key Largo.  Twenty Sea Fan colonies were cemented in place.  This was the first time in the United States that corals raised in captivity were used to transplant back to the reef.

From 2012 to 2017 ORA’s Marshall Island Mariculture farm worked with the National Environmental Protection Agency of the Marshall Islands on a coral restoration project linked to airport construction.
