This intensely blue fish is not like the other members in the damselfish family. Staying far more peaceful, our little damsel is an incredibly hardy addition to the home aquarium. Aquarists will enjoy their attractive combination of contrasting vibrant blue and yellow colors and confident personalities. Their wild counterparts are commonly found throughout the Indo Pacific, reaching sizes of up to 3” and sheltering in groups among dense coral branches and rocky crevices. They can be kept in groups in the aquarium, but maintain in odd numbered groups to limit aggression.
Similar to clownfish after courtship and nestbuilding, it’s the male Yellowtail Blue Damsel who cares for the eggs, cleaning and guarding them tirelessly.
