The Bicolor Dottyback, also called the Royal Dottyback, originates from the Western Pacific. They sport blue eyes and the frontal part of the fish is purple while the back part is bright yellow. They grow to a maximum length of 3” in the wild, although 2.5” is more common in captive environments.
These gorgeous fish are considered to be aggressive and should ideally be housed with similarly mannered tankmates. In the wild they’re usually found in areas of rich coral growth or coral rubble. They should be provided with plenty of hiding spots, which they will defend upon intrusion.
