Blue Chalice is a plating, wavy Echinopora coral similar in structure to M. capricornis. The overlaying tissue is fairly delicate and can be easily abraded and the skeletal structure is especially thin and brittle. Color varies significantly from pinkish tan, under sunlight, to lavender blue under higher Kelvin lighting. While usually relatively peaceful, Blue Chalice corals are capable of stinging neighboring corals with sweeper tentacles at night. Sufficient space is needed as this coral is very fast growing.
